About Cally

A woman in her forties with brown hair and a smile on her face.

Cally Jackson grew up on an Australian bushland property about ten minutes from the closest town and was an only child until she turned ten, so she spent most of her spare time reading, entertaining her imaginary friends, and talking the ear off any visitors – kid or grown up, didn’t matter. It wasn’t uncommon for Cally to find red-back spiders under her bed or a baby snake in her Connect Four set—yes, really!

In grade two, she got in trouble for penning her own tale instead of copying from a story book (it was supposed to be a handwriting exercise, but clearly her priorities were elsewhere).

By seventeen, Cally had accepted that her dream of a Hollywood acting career was sadly out of reach, so she turned to a career in professional communication, with fiction writing as her lifelong labour of love.

Cally’s first novel, The Big Smoke, was published in 2012. A decade and two children later, The Ripple Effect series and Captive were born.

These days, she lives on the outskirts of Brisbane with her husband and kids, where she continues to entertain herself and others by letting her imagination run wild.
